What chomchom actually is
Chomchom (চমচম) is an oval chhana sweet, simmered in syrup like a rasgulla but denser and less spongy, with a deeper colour that comes from cooking the syrup further. It is often finished with a dusting of khoya — milk solids cooked down until crumbly.
The town of Porabari in Tangail is the name most associated with chomchom in Bangladesh, and it remains one of the sweets people are most particular about.
How we make it
Ours are shaped and simmered in small batches after you order, then dusted before they go out. Halal, no preservatives, nothing made days ahead.
Two days' notice lets us cook each batch for your date rather than in advance.
When people order it
Chomchom is a favourite on mixed sweet platters, where its colour and shape break up a tray of white rasgulla and pale sandesh. It is a common choice for weddings, mehndi nights and Eid.
Questions we get asked
How is chomchom different from rasgulla?
Both start from chhana, but chomchom is shaped into an oval, cooked in a darker syrup and is noticeably denser. Rasgulla is round, white and spongier.
What is the dusting on top?
Khoya — milk cooked down until it turns crumbly. It adds a dry, milky finish against the syrup.
Can I mix chomchom with other sweets?
Yes. Our Assorted Mishti Box combines chomchom with rasgulla, sandesh and kalojam.
